Re: The Trump Administration

I was watching a programme on the BBC the other night where four OAP's (old age pensioners) are travelling the world sampling what's on offer for those of their age group, which were between 65 and 75. They were in Florida and had a look at two gated communities. It brought home to me the stark diff...

Re: The Trump Administration

It also might help if there was some sort of limit on expenditure on these elections. It seems that those who can throw the most amount of money at it on a personal basis will probably succeed. Those who can't, and may be a better option, fall at any early stage when funds run out. I don't pretend t...

Re: The Trump Administration

Just picked up a piece on the BBC news where they were comparing fortunes of the USA and the UK as regards loss of manufacturing and jobs that started some years ago in the Reagan and Thatcher era. They were interviewing a member of the pubic from Pennsylvania who was saying they had been promised m...

Re: The Trump Administration

Seems like he is trying to revert the US to a day 1 policy. Yah boo to convention, tradition, all the accepted ways of doing things, and bringing in all his pals into jobs, where, at the time they leave office they will be considerably richer than they are now. Either his professional advisors are g...

Re: Venezuela Wake, countdown to implosion

Also, coins as replacements will not help Vz. I can only report what I heard on the BBC World Service Sat or Sun night. Normally reliable it is the only source I have. I am afraid the situation doesn't even make normal news unless they are highlighting some particular persons difficulty, like last ...

bert.douglas wrote:What reason is that ?

Forgeries, criminal activity, hoarding of money to avoid taxes as was the case in India.
Replace it with coin and it immediately makes the paper money even more worthless than it apparently already is.

Re: Venezuela Wake, countdown to implosion

Maduro is pulling all existing VEF100 notes from circulation in 72 hours. I am speechless. https://www.caracaschronicles.com/2016/12/12/58930/ If that is their largest currency note, then according to the BBC Sunday night they are to be replaced by a coin of the same value. They must have got the i...

Re: The Trump Administration

If he is so worried about them tunnelling under the wall, hold the plans up the other way and have a wall thirty feet deep. That will keep them out !

Re: The Trump Administration

Whoever it is they are going to take second place to Trump who is going to stage manage whatever it is to make sure his name is on the front of everything, ignore all protocols, wing it (as he is now), and when it goes wrong the others will get the blame.

Interesting times ahead.

Can't be much of a democracy where if you want to challenge the results of a vote you have to pay for it!
