Re: Randomly picked by computer, United Airlines kicks out passenger

Perhaps that explains why the average airline ticket in Latin America is like 4 times more expensive than the rest of the World. Latin American culture is the exact opposite (although they still like to be cheap when they can). Competition is coming though. Finally. Ryanair is in Latin America, che...

Re: Randomly picked by computer, United Airlines kicks out passenger

Stupid United assuming Asians don't complain or cause problems. US airline's flight crew are under excessive stress, recently AA crew had an altercation with a passenger. http://nypost.com/2017/04/22/american-airlines-flight-attendant-accused-of-whacking-mom-with-stroller/ In its statement, A...

Re: Randomly picked by computer, United Airlines kicks out passenger

Quit while you're ahead man :-D I'll feed back to the forum eventually, if I survive the experience ;-) but my plan is to fly into TIJ with a decent airline and CBX across the border, an authentic Irish wetback as it were.

Re: Randomly picked by computer, United Airlines kicks out passenger

Well, Donnybrook outlined how overbooking / crew flying would be handled by decent staff on a decent airline, i.e. before boarding the passengers. I think I made a good decision for my trip to the empire next week (work-related, can't be avoided) of not using US airlines or indeed a US airport :wink...

Re: The Trump Administration

Pumpkinhead has created a dysfunctioal dynamic in his inner circle of advisors. He's got Bannon and the Breitbart crowd on one side, and Kushner and Ivanka and the banksters on the other. Naturally they give the boss conflicting opinions, and since he's not a man who is well known for strong convic...

Re: Kitchen knives in checked baggage

Ugh, can't recommend anything good to do at that time in Lima, except try to get access to a lounge. There aren't even sockets to recharge from in the terminal, and I think you get 30 mins of crappy WiFi for free. There might be some delays in Lima, lots of military flights at the moment with the fl...

Re: Is Paraguay burning? Coupe

Since it's a country we don't hear much from, perhaps it's appropriate to share:https://www.penguin.co.uk/books/1030156/at-the-tomb-of-the-inflatable-pig/. That book made me want to visit, I almost got a contract there a few years back, maybe another opportunity will come up :D

Re: El Niño could be BIG this year

is it just me, or is every year turning in to el nino year? I don't think so. It's just that the US government stridently predicted El Niño for like six years in a row and failed. Then when it finally came they had to hype it as worse than it actually was. ("See the sky really was falling!!!&q...

Re: Dehumidifiers

Yes, you're right, it "removes 30 pints of water every 24 hours". Not sure how much the bucket holds.

Re: Dehumidifiers

Papageno, you're almost certainly right and I've been telling fibs. I need to think again about this. The technical data section says 30 pints, but no way does the container hold that much water. The humidity here is high, https://www.wunderground.com/q/zmw:00000.228.84203?sp=SEGU&utm_source=Hom...

Re: Dehumidifiers

Well, I have a Kul http://www.sukasa.com/deshumidificador-30-pintas-kul-83.html , quite expensive (at least in Ecuador) but I've had it for over a year and it works fine. You don't know what humidity is until you've been to Guayaquil  , I get to empty the 14-litre container out several times ...
