Greetings, My name is Charles Spencer (a.k.a Forum Admin or Editor). We would like to extend a warm invitation for you to join the Chile forum for Gringos and Expats. Why another Chile forum?
Currently the Chile Gringo and Expatriate community is spread over more than a dozen major forums on the Internet, none of which are dedicated to just Chile. For example, along with chilegringos yahoo group there are such sites as 4gringos, Expat Focus, and Dave's ESL cafe, to name a few of the larger sites. Chile is one minor topic for all of these sites, with pages on other subjects numbering in the hundreds of millions. Thus, it is dividing and diluting the foreign community knowledge base about Chile on the Internet. How is the Chile Forum paid for? This site is paid for primarily from advertising generated by www.allsouthernchile.com and our parent consulting firm www.spencerglobal.com. It is provided free as a service to foreign community in Chile or those interested in learning more about life in Chile. We want to build a support network to make adjusting to life in Chile a little easier. We originally started out with www.allsouthernchile.com covering Southern Chile and the Patagonia. From the contacts we made building www.allsouthernchile.com, both with the foreign community and the local community, it became evident that there was a great interest in doing more than just visiting Chile. We received thousands of emails with questions about things like investing Chile, buying real estate, starting businesses, finding schools for kids, and more. We spent hundreds of hours personally answering emails from foreigners looking to relocate to Chile. Thus, we decided it would be more effective to open a forum and wiki dedicated to just Chile to answer the most common questions, and bring others members of the Expat community together in to one place to share information about Chile. We still answer plenty of emails.
